4 SXSW GAMING AWARDS Having premiered in 2014, the 2018 SXSW Gaming Awards continues to recognize influential games not only for their excellence in quality, but for their impact on the global gaming community. Games represent on of the most unifying mediums, with a global reach and unyielding passion that connects all gamers. With that in mind, we hope to give these amazing titles and the development teams behind them the recognition they deserve. We encourage all who attend the SXSW Gaming Awards to enjoy the show to the fullest because we're here to celebrate what we love best in the games we play, together. Entry Process and Judging The SXSW Gaming Awards began accepting entries in September 2017. After receiving hundreds of entries across 24 categories, the SXSW Gaming staff and advisory board selected the nominee titles based on the criteria of each category and with hands-on gameplay. The finalists were announced in January 2018, with the winners being determined by a weighted total between public and advisory board votes. Winners of the Gamer's Voice awards were determined by a public vote held at the SXSW Gaming Expo.
