The SXSW Music Opening Party sponsored by Greater Fort Lauderdale's Underground is where the Music Industry meets to kick off the world-renowned Music Festival. There will be live performances by Superchunk, Bad Gyal, Pussy Riot, Lali Puna, Starcrawler, Boy Harsher, and more. Not limited in genre or region, you can enjoy a vast variety of musical styles at SXSW. This year, we anticipate nearly 2,000 Showcasing Artists from more than 60 countries. The fun continues on Sunday, March 18 with the annual BBQ and industry softball tournament from 1:00pm-5:00pm at Krieg Fields. Head over to Palm Door on Sixth in the evening for the SXSW Music Closing Party; there will be tunes provided by Jonathan Toubin plus a dance-off for a cash prize. Comedy Festival March 9–17, 2018 Growing from a singular night's celebration of comedy's biggest names into a week-long whirlwind of a festival, SXSW Comedy presents uniquely diverse programming that high- lights exceptional emerging and established talent. SXSW Comedy's packed schedule from March 9-17, 2018, includes showcases, live podcast recordings, panels, and late night parties. The diverse line-ups feature rising stars, estab- lished greats, and surprise guests. Frequent collaborations with comedy powerhouses include the Upright Citizens Brigade, Comedy Central, Above Average, and Earwolf. All badgeholders are welcome to all SXSW Comedy events.
