Six individuals and six organizations are recognized for their outstanding commitment to community service and awarded grants to continue their work. The Organization Community Service Award honors organizations that benefit the communities SXSW serves. These grants go toward hands-on solutions to community issues, especially where they improve the lives of the underprivileged or disenfranchised. The Individual Community Service Award honors the difference one person can make to a community and celebrates the life and work of SXSW Interactive co-founder, Dewey Winburne. These grants go to creative community service work that: bridges the digital divide, creates positive impact and involves grassroots organizing. Join us – free and open to the public!
